The User
Hivebreaker is an isometric Dungeon Crawler. The player clears rooms with enemies by fighting them to unlock the next floor. The player collects items to raise the stats and become more powerful and even be able to convert enemies to fight for him. My part was to take care that the UI is fitting to the overall style and the target player.
Menus
The player wants to navigate through a simple, but also stylistically appealing menu. The font and menus needed to fit to the art style and the target player.
Main Menu
Our menu is left leaning, the game title stands out strongly, as well as our main character. I was looking for an easy solution and also chose the previous project as a reference.
Pause Menu
The menu should show the blurred background of the gameplay as planned, as well as a blank field in the center. Still, the player can access all important functions from here. In addition to the pause menu, the player should also be able to access the options directly. Games like Resident Evil were references.
Stat Machine Menu
This menu shows a random value, as well as an explanation, and gives the possibility to equip it or reject it. Here, too, I created several wireframes and tried to create a menu that was as accessible as possible.
Tutorial Menu
In our tutorial, the game explains the most important functions via a text field. My part was the creation of wireframes and partly the planning of what needs to be said, i.e. what needs to be taught to the player.
Leave Menu
To make sure that the player doesn't accidentally confirm settings or leave the game, menus like this one have been included.
Game Over Menu
Since the game is high score based, there is also a death and victory screen. This gives the player all the important info they need, as well as the chance to get to the main menu or restart.
Work examples here.
Screenflow
This screenflow shows all important menus, screens, pop-ups, and some events.
